Combine enhanced readability with great search results in Google.

Be sure to post new content regularly and often. Make new content linked directly from your homepage. Work on creating links to the new content from other sites. Then, Google will eventually increase the rate of indexing of new content on your site.

Text amount – An absolute minimum is somewhere 500 characters, recomend 800 to 1,000.

Write good headlines on the page

The text in headings on one page has greater value on search engines than regular text. Consider, therefore, how to design your title from a search engine perspective while serving the visitors who come into the page and read the title.

  • From SEO, it is most important that the headline contains the keyword for the page, and the main heading (H1) should describe what’s on the page and not the site.
  • It is important to use unique headlines for each individual page on the page. Although two pages are about the same thing, you should strive to have different headlines on them.
  • The page is valued higher if the search terms in the title are reused with a similar wording in the body text.

Scannability – Language and Text Design

Increase readability and highlight the text with design, headlines and lists! This also increases the chance of being found by the search engines. In this context, you talk about “scannability”, ie. the ability of the visitor to quickly determine whether she is right or not.

  • Dense classification with hierarchically correct heading levels (H1-H2-H3).
  • In the preamble, complete the headline with the most important in the text.
  • Attract reading in the preamble and let it be an interesting introduction that at the same time provides an overview of the content of the text.
  • Make lists in list form (link lists, etc.): they capture the eye effectively.
  • Paragraph breakdown – “A thought – a piece” is a good rule. Long explanations or reasoning can always be divided into smaller parts, based on each other but still completed.
  • Concrete with bold style.
  • Avoid underlays and never use different colors on the text.
  • Update your site frequently. Google also rewards small updates.
  • Links should tell you something about the page they link to. A general link text like “click here” and “read more” does not tell search engines anything about the destination – never use such link texts!

Landing Pages: Here the visitor should preferably end up !

  • Landing pages always have a variety of undersides. Often you see almost empty landing pages. The information itself is carried by the undersides. Do not miss a good “Get-Found-Opportunity” here! Use landing pages to attract visitors to your web.
  • Landing pages should contain presentation – with key keywords! – of underlying content. Keywords are words that are central to the content, these should also be in headings and page title. Do not forget to link to the underlying pages directly in the body text, even the fixed menu contains the same links. The result is usually higher ranking with the search engines.
  • Landing pages are good for the visitor. This gives a better overview of what information is offered on the subject, than if the search engine directs the visitor directly to an underside. Therefore, load the landing pages with a lot of “search engine”.

Visitors read web pages in a F-format pattern

  • Studies show that visitors often read / scan web pages in an F pattern – first two horizontal lines and then one vertical. This means that the upper left part of a web page upper middle column attracts most immediate interest.
  • Do not place important info in the right-hand column only. The right column is likely to become a “black hole”. If the main text in the middle column attracts the greatest interest and it requires scrolling to be read, all information in the right column disappears from the field of view.
  • If you use the right column for important information, you may want to display the information at the end of the middle column.
